The A1C Test and What it is

The A1C test is something that is done by the physician that is treating the diabetic patient to monitor how well the blood glucose level is being controlled. This test can show the physician a span of three months for the blood glucose, and this can tell the medical professional if the current diabetic maintenance plan is working properly.

This A1C testing should be done twice yearly so that the treatment that is being used to maintain the blood glucose level can be changed if needed to keep the blood sugar level within the normal range. The results of this test are normally less than 7 and when they are not then immediate changes will be made in both insulin and diet.

This along with the daily monitoring of blood glucose can keep the diabetic from having any of the complications that are associated with diabetes.
