Accute Complications Diabetics can Suffer From

When diabetic there can be acute complications like elevated blood sugar levels, insulin deficiency or low blood sugar levels, which is due to much insulin. These are critical situations for the diabetic and must be brought into control.
People with Type I diabetes cannot live without insulin, without this the blood sugar elevates to dangerous levels, increased urine glucose which means loss of fluid and electrolytes. The lack of insulin causes the inability to store fat and protein, while the stored fat and proteins breakdown. This causes ketosis, which is the release of ketones in the blood that turns acidic. This is known as diabetic ketacidosis.

The symptoms of diabetic keacidosis can be vomiting, nausea, and abdominal pain, and is a condition that will need immediate medical treatment. Without medical treatment this acute complication of diabetes can cause diabetic shock, coma and even death.
