Who Brittle Diabetes Affects


The condition known as brittle diabetes is one of the more rare complications of diabetes and approximately less than one percent of diabetics will suffer from this condition. This less than one percent of diabetics that will have this complication of brittle diabetes are insulin dependent diabetics.

There are other outside factors that can also be an issue, like psychological problems, stress, and depression increase the risk for a diabetic having brittle diabetes. The research data for brittle diabetes shows that young women are affected, between the ages of 15 and 30. Women that are overweight, are also at risk for this complication.

Diabetics that have blood sugar control problems or that stop maintaining a healthy diet, do not manage their blood glucose levels or that have metabolic imbalances are also at a higher risk for brittle diabetes. Sugar control wane diabetics are also at a greater risk than the diabetic that does not have difficulty maintaining their blood glucose level.
