One of the ways to know the amount of carbohydrates a food contains is by reading the information on the labels, this will give the amount, along with the amount of calories, vitamins and other things contained in packaged foods. The package label will also tell the amount of serving per container, this will allow the diabetic watching their carbohydrate intake to know the exact amount of carbohydrates they will ingest in one serving.
