The remedies for this disorder include eating a healthy and planned diet, doing plenty of exercise, retaining a healthy pregnancy weight, keep on checking the glucose levels, if required taking daily insulin injections.
Gestational diabetic mothers diet plan:
- Avoid food stuffs high in sugar content.
- Try eating complex carbohydrates such as pasta, rice, grains and cereals.
- Have fiber rich food such as fruits and vegetables.
- Have a snack before bedtime rich in protein and carbohydrate content
Exercise tips:
- A doctor should be consulted regarding the right types of exercise to be followed.
- Work out should be done three to four times in a week each lasting for 15 to 30 minutes.
- Woman should avoid strenuous work out and should not get overheated.

- A weight gain of 25 to 35 pounds is expected during pregnancy for a woman having desirable weight prior
- An underweight woman is expected to gain weight up to 28 to 36 pounds.
