Diabetes is Contagious

Diabetes is contagious is a myth, diabetes is not like a cold, flu or disease that can be passed from one human being to another. Diabetes is a disease in which the pancreas does not produce the insulin that is needed to keep the blood glucose level in a normal range.

The person that is diagnosed with diabetes has factors that cause their blood sugar level to be uncontrollable naturally. This can be from a combination of things, like family history and lifestyle, because diet can play a role in this diagnosis for people that have genetic factors. What this means is it is blood relatives that can be diagnosed with a form of diabetes, not spouses, friends or strangers that come in contact with the diabetic.

The diabetic and their spouse or friends should not fear this disease, because it cannot be passed to other people and the diabetic can live a full and normal life.
