Controlling type 1 diabetes with diet


Although insulin infections are necessary to treat the type 1 diabetes, there are some other factors which help in controlling it such as diet.  If you eat right balanced diet you can easily control type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes person have to intake proper diet with low fats, carbohydrates and also sodium. If you take diet with adequate carbohydrates, then the insulin level is adjusted according to your intake. To control type 1 diabetes in effective include these food items daily,

  • Fresh fruits: have five servings of a fruit everyday. One banana is counted as two servings so eat according to it.
  • Having fish for 3 to 4 in a week is recommended. It contains Omega3 oils which are very useful for heart functioning.
  • Have grains and starches according to your caloric requirements. Mostly 4 to 11 servings per day are suggested.
  •  Consumption of green Vegetables at least for five servings daily is highly recommended. Simple eat vegetables as “free food" whenever you like.
  • Low fat milk or skim milk is suggested. It is good if you intake dairy products 2 -3 times in a day
  • Four to six ounces of meat protein is sufficient for a day. These proteins also found in foods items such as beans, tofu, eggs, and cheeses.
