Type 2 diabetes and foot care


One has to take great care of their feet when they have type2 diabetes. This is because; they may cause neuropathy which is then followed by tingling and numbness. If proper care is not taken then the infections on the feet may become quite difficult to heal. Some of the things that you can do in order to look after your feet are as follows:

  • Make sure that you check your feet regularly for any kind of swelling or injuries. Examine your feet closely specially in the areas that are ignored on the feet like the gap between two fingers. This is important as feeling any kind of problem is difficult if you are affected by neuropathy.
  • Keep your feet clean by washing them everyday thoroughly with warm water and soap. This will help you in preventing several kinds of infection. Make use of foot creams if they become dry to early or develop cracks. Massage them properly as it will increase the blood circulation in those areas
  • Wear proper fitted shoes and socks at different occasions
  • Don’t ignore any kind of infection or problem and immediately see your doctor for further inspection.
  • Apart from all this, maintain the level of glucose in your body for any kind of foot complications.
