Type 2 Diabetes Long Term Effects


Diabetes type 2 has many long term effects and the major causes responsible for death due to diabetes type 2 are stroke and heart disease. This condition can also damage the nervous system and other organs of the body such as eyes and kidneys are also at higher risk of getting damage.

People suffering from type 2 diabetes for a longer period of time may experience several long term difficulties and these difficulties can be reduced by bringing high amount of blood sugar levels under control. Initially the symptoms of diabetes type 2 may not seem too dangerous but later on they may become life-threatening which can result in disabling or any other serious conditions. Long term effect includes damage to major and vital organs of the body such as eyes, nerves, heart and kidneys.

Studies have shown that 2 in 3 people affected by diabetes die due to stroke and coronary heart disease. Nerve damage results in burning and tingling sensation, toes and feet becoming numb and this is the severe complication faced by people suffering from type 2 diabetes. Long term effect of diabetes type 2 can be reduced by taking proper balanced diet, regular exercise and controlling the blood sugar levels in body.
