Gamma-Linolenic Acid for Diabetes Therapy

Gamma-Linolenic acid is one of the diabetes therapy that is used in combination with alpha-lipoic acid to improve diabetic neuropathy. These can also reduce pain from nerve damage from the neuropathy complications.

There are several places that gamma-linlenic acid can be found, one of these is by using evening of primrose oil, black current seed oil, or borage oil. When this is used for a four to six month period once a day it has been found in research studies to reverse the cause of diabetic nerve damage. This while successful over the amount of months may not work in the same time frame for every person with diabetic neuropathy or damaged nerves due to this condition in type I or type II diabetics.

The use of gamma-linolenic acid is something that should be discussed with the diabetic’s physician so that the blood and urine can  be monitored.
