What is Insulin?

Insulin is a product that is made to treat diabetes that is made from amino acids, there are 51 amino acids in insulin that are put together in a way that can be a metabolic control for the body system that works to create proteins. The insulin when injected into the body is referred to as a peptide hormone.

Insulin can be derived from animals or human engineered insulin, in both cases it can have different amounts of time it works in the body and at different rates of release times. Each different type of insulin has had large amounts of research done, which means when it is prescribed after testing positive for diabetes the blood glucose testing will show the amounts of insulin and times it is needed per day.

Studies continue for the DNA technology that makes up some insulin on both plants and humans, along with some plants that are being used to produce insulin after specific genes are introduced to the plants to find pure ways of providing insulin to diabetics.
