Manganese for Diabetes Therapy


Manganese is a mineral and is able to help the diabetic maintain their blood glucose level in the normal range and is useful in treating hypoglycemia, one of the complications diabetics can face. The body uses manganese for fat and protein metabolism and this can help the diabetic when eating carbohydrates.

When magnesium is taken with calcium it is able to help muscle contraction, it helps to produce energy especially in muscle cells, which is important in maintaining a normal blood glucose level and avoiding diabetic complications.

There are foods that are rich in manganese including whole green cereals, leafy vegetables, nuts and tea. Manganese is needed by the body to help with the absorption of vitamins C, B and E. All of these vitamins are an important part of every persons diet or daily supplement and also important for the diabetic that is maintaining their blood glucose levels and attempting to avoid complications associated with diabetes.
