Why do people get diabetes?

Diabetes has no cure. It occurs due to some disorder in endocrine system but it’s not the only reason for people getting diabetes. Actually it is very difficult to pinpoint the causative agents for diabetes as it changes depending on the individual’s body health. Anyway, some of the important causes of diabetes include hereditary or genetic factors, food habits, life style and the environments.

In those factors hereditary plays a key role, yes if your parents or ancestors had this disease then there is a near chance for you to develop diabetes. Aging also cause diabetes. It can occur at any age of the person and increases with age for example if you have 2% of diabetes at the age of 20 to 44 years then it may increase to 16 - 18% at the age of 65 to 74 years.

The old people have high risk for developing diabetes. This happens because the pancreas also become old and work very slowly which results in less insulin production. Obese or overweight and sedentary people also have high risk for occurrence of diabetes. Hispanic Americans, the minority group people are more likely to develop diabetes very soon.
