Slowing the Complications of Diabetes

Slowing the complications of diabetes might not be able to be accomplished by every diabetic, but there are some things that can be done. One of things can be done to slow the complications of diabetes is to keep a close eye on the blood glucose level and take insulin at the same time daily. This ensures that the body has the amount of insulin as needed for it to work correctly.

By aggressively treating diabetes with continuous blood glucose testing and daily injections at the same time it is possible to reduce the occurrence and severity of large blood vessel disease. This has been proven in studies and research has shown that diabetics keeping their blood glucose level below seven will keep it within the normal range.

This is also able to decrease kidney disease by approximately 54%, diabetic eye disease by 76% and nerve disease by 60%. The difficulty with this is it can also promote low blood sugar levels, this is why it's recommended that the blood glucose level should be kept under seven and this is why people with type I diabetes that suffer from complications should test their blood glucose level as many as four times a day.
