In this test, blood will be taken for analysis and one cannot eat anything for a time period of 8 hours. Another important method to diagnose type 2 diabetes is casual plasma glucose test. While doing this test a person is not restricted from eating as this test depends on the analysis of the amount of blood sugar level in the body.

Oral glucose tolerance test is performed during pregnancy to detect gestational diabetes, also on people who experience the symptoms of type 2 diabetes and to detect pre-diabetes in kids. Hemoglobin A1c test is used to find out whether your diabetes is under control.
