Tips for the Diabetic

There are some tips that can help keep diabetes under control and at the same time help decrease the risk of compactions like heart and kidney disease. These tips are:

  • Learn as much about the type of diabetes you have, whether it is type I or type II, this can help to manage the disease properly. By doing this lessens the risk of complications like heart disease, kidney disease, blindness and amputation.
  • Exercise and watching the diet will help to keep from being overweight; this alone can help decrease complication risks and help to keep the blood glucose values in the normal range.
  • Visit the family physician, the eye doctor and specialist, and the podiatrist regularly, these professionals can do tests that can help to avoid diabetic complications.

Keep emergency diabetic supplies in the car, backpack, purse or anywhere the person with diabetes frequents. When there is a high or low glucose reading then it is possible to take emergency steps to avoid the situation from becoming worse.
