Treatment for Insulin Shock


When a person with diabetes suffers insulin shock they need immediate attention, this is a time when the health can take an extremely serious turn if not treated. There are some ways to treat this condion:

  • the use of sugar in the form of a candy bar, sugar cubes or fruit drinks can have the desired affect on a diabetic suffering insulin shock.
  • Another method is to rub sugar on the gums and underneath of the tongue.
  • Using a diabetic emergency kit will have the needed directions and items needed to use for insulin shock.

What is important is insulin shock should not be ignored, the diabetic should speak with their physician and the low blood sugar should be treated in a way that it will not be affected again by insulin shock or hypoglycemia. Both of these can be dangerous for the person with diabetes and it is also an indication that the blood sugar may be out of control.
