How to Take Galvus
Galvus is a prescription medication used to treat type2 diabetes. This medication should be taken exactly as prescribed by the doctor. The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food. As far as possible, take the medication at the same time every day. Stick to the diet and exercise regimen recommended by your doctor. Do not skip meals or take meals at odd timings while on this medication. This can increase risk of hypoglycemia. The usual dosage range is 50 to 100 mg per day. The 50 mg dose can be taken once daily whereas the 100 mg dose should be taken as a 50 mg dose taken twice daily. During the course of treatment, it is essential to monitors the patient’s sugar levels constantly so as to get an idea of the efficacy of treatment and any dosage modification that may be required. If you miss a dose of Galvus, take is as soon as you remember but if it is time for the next dose, simply skip the missed dose. Never double the dosage to make up for the missed dose. If the patient shows side effects like changes in liver function or liver inflammation, the doctor may discontinue the medication. Never stop taking the medication by yourself.. |
