Vitamin B 6 and Diabetes Therapy

Vitamin B6 may play an extremely important role in diabetes therapy, this is because research has shown that diabetics having the complication diabetic neuropathy have been deficient in pyridoxine, which is commonly known as vitamin B6. This is only one of the things the vitamin B6 does assist diabetic, there is also evidence that vitamin B6 supplements can improve glucose tolerance in women with gestational diabetes.

One of the other things that vitamin B6 can help with is glucose intolerance induced by birth-control pills, with a certain type of vitamin B6 pyridoxine alpha-ketogutarate. The diabetic taking birth control pills can dramatically improve their glucose tolerance with the use of this type of vitamin B6.

This vitamin pyridoxine is an important coenzyme involved in the cross-linking of collagen and it is able to inhibit platelet aggression, which means that is able to prevent other types of diabetes complications.
