Zinc and Diabetes Therapy


Zinc is one of the minerals that is extremely important for the diabetic because its function is to help the body properly release insulin and it is believed that diabetics that suffer the complication of hypoglycemia may be deficient in zinc.

Zinc is also able to help control cholesterol, it is able to assist the body with healing and the immune system. One of the other functions of zinc in the body is to assist with protein and energy metabolism.

This is a mineral that is destroyed by the body when processing food, and for this reason it will need to be replenished either by eating foods rich in zinc or taking zinc supplements.

The foods that are rich in this mineral are meat, eggs, milk, whole grains, sunflower seeds, and spinach, along with other foods.

Zinc can also be destroyed in the body by other factors, which include stress and by alcoholic beverages.
